Sensational scientific discovery: ancient Russians knew how to read and write 200 000 years ago? How true this statement?
This stone with ancient Russians letters has been lost. It was found near the town of Roseau (Minnesota) in the 1920’s.
This stone has a history of interest. The story was written down by the main researcher, John Jager. Here is his biography. This person was first a great archetect who designed many of the public buildings still standing in Minneapolis/ St. Paul, Minnesota. He was also a genius scholar interested in American anthropology and epigraphy. Surprisingly, he was also one of the first pioneers to put forth the idea of cultural diffusions and global travel by the ancient mariners. Read more…
Even before the Sumerians the Russian words were written in the same way as now. The ribbon-rimmed stone hidden words, and the top shows the face of ancient goddess Jára: a pair of dark eyes, beads and fangs sticking out of the closed mouth. Читайте…

Here is his interview where he talks about history of Russian siriliza language. (In Russian)
Vladimir Pakhomov , the person who “read” the stone is a scientist. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics – M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University. He has worked in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna). He has published more than 50 scientific articles.
Some people believed the story is true and some don’t.
I would like to add a few comments regarding the evolution of Russian language. Russians were pagans язычники. I’m not sure if I can call these people as “Russians” or “of Russia” at this point. They used their own runes, not the ones that were used by Vikings. When Christians religion came, new language based on Greek letters came. The Greek language was based on Hebrew language. I don’t think there is any link between Russians runes and modern language at all.
When I look at the Roseau Stone, I don’t see Viking runes either. This made me interested to learn more about this stone.
